How To Find a Muralist
Wall murals provide scenery to an otherwise plain-looking room without a view. They have become popular in recent years mostly due to home decorating television shows that have demonstrated how murals can liven up even the dullest rooms. Working with the right mural artist is important to realizing an attractive mural. A certain artistic acuteness and skill are required for painting a mural; painting on large surfaces requires a certain knack for the craft. There are different kinds of muralists who specialize in different types of subjects. Many muralists are better at creating landscapes while others may focus their expertise in painting animals and cartoons. Below are some tips on how to find the right muralist to paint your room or wall.
Know what you want. It is likely that you have a fairly straightforward idea for what you want the wall to look like. Have a good idea of the type of scene that you would like to have painted on your wall; this is fundamental as many mural artists have specific niches although some can design all types of murals. Choosing a mural theme also depends a lot on what type of room you are placing the mural in, whether it is a nursery, the game room, the kitchen, the office, the den, or the living room. To give you an idea, below are some of the common and popular types of murals:

Search for potential muralists. Once you have an idea of what you want, it is time to search for the right muralist. You can go to home improvement stores, the local art museum, or the local cultural affairs office and ask if they have a resident muralist that they can recommend to you, who has the ability to paint the kind of mural that you wish. You can also search online for muralists in your area using online directories or a search engine. Searching online is more convenient as you can already browse the portfolio of muralists or artists to determine if they meet your standards or taste. Make a shortlist of at least three muralists with a style that you like.
Choose one based on the above factors an the manner they accommodated you in your interview. Once you hire a muralist, don’t forget to get a contract drawn up to protect the interests of both parties.
After your mural is finished you may add other accents to the area that relate to the wall mural: wall vases filled with blooms make a great accent to a garden themed mural and wall plaques can accentuate almost any traditional, vintage, old world, or country style.
