St. Petersburg – A City Of Colorful Russian Heritage
There are few places on earth more fascinating than the country of Russia and few Russian cities can compare to the beautiful city of St. Petersburg. St. Petersburg is the second largest city in Russia. Only the capital, Moscow, is larger. Rich Russian culture as well as contemporary technology is found around every corner but you can’t travel here unless you have a passport. The gardens in St. Petersburg are truly stunning. The Summer Gardens is the perfect place for a romantic picnic or relaxing walk. The shaded walkways, beautiful floral atmosphere, and waterways, all combine to create a tranquil setting.
There are many sights and spectacles to be enjoyed in and around St. Petersburg. One such area and perhaps the most popular is Vasilevsky Island. The famous Andrevevsky Cathedral can be found here and stands as a testament to Russian architecture as well as Russian art. Also found here is the Russian counterpart to Ripley’s Believe It Or Not. It is called Kunstkamera which means “Room of Curiosities” and is a great place to spend a day enjoying items that are unusual and sometimes strange and are from places all around the world. The Rostral Columns, Rumvantsevsky Park and the Mershikov Palace can also be found here.
