Aging A New Mirror
Are you looking for a way to make your new mirror to look aged? Well you have come to the right place. I have written extensively on the subject of decorative mirrorsand extetensive writing has helped a number of home owners all over the world. You can use a number of ways to convert the glass area of the frame to an aged mirror. If you are not using unframed mirrors you even have an option to convert the frame to a tray. {You Can do this even withThis can even be done with} some Makeup mirrors but you will need to know where to buy quality makeup mirror or mirrors.
Some of the options you can use include gelatin or silver. You can also consider using an aluminum leaf. I know that most chemical kits cost something like $90 for 300 square feet but you can just use the latter on glass at a smaller fee than most| however, you can also just use the aluminum leaf because it is cheaper.
I must mention that that this does not always work effectively especially due to the fact that it is not easy to remove the grey paint on the back of most new mirrors.
So another option is to use what is known as Antique Mirror Patina| Antique Mirror Patina is another option you can consider for this project, which is a water based alkaline solution, a water based solution made from alkaline and and mimics the blemish and aged look of antique mirrors. You can do it on your own at $80 or so i.e. about $2 per square feet.
These are a sample of options to consider when trying to convert your decorative mirrors or any type you may have into an antique. I am confident that what I have shared above is enough to get you going.
