Difference Between Flute And Chinese Flute Lessons
With many different kinds of flute around the world, it can be confusing to choose which among them you should study. From the colorful stores of Asia and Europe to the pragmatic Americas, flutes of different kinds abound. In fact, some of the regular flute that we see originated either from China or from the Western countries. So what is the difference when you study them?
Basically, they are the same because they’re all wind instruments. Blowing air into them is what produces the music. There are also techniques to be better at them, like studying in a school or hiring a professional teacher.
The ordinary flute you see all the time is a flute with holes. You use the embouchure to blow air into it, then use your fingers to elicit the notes from it. As a general rule, a flute can play three octaves of notes. This makes it good to play a wide range of songs.
The Chinese boasts of 15 kinds of flutes, yet only a few of these are known outside of China. Most of them are created using bamboo trees because these trees are widespread in China. One unique feature of a Chinese flute is the addition of the resonance membrane. This membrane is placed in one of the holes to produce a vibration that is essential in making music. Chinese flutes really vary, with some holes having as few as 6 holes to as many as 11 holes. Holding a Chinese flute, particularly the dizi, is also more difficult. Among your fingers, only the thumb and the pinky will have the job of holding the body of the flute. The rest will be busy fingering the notes.
With whatever kind of flute, you will have to practice correct posture and breathing. Only with them will you be able to perform to the best of your abilities. You have to sit or stand up straight but stay relaxed especially on the arms. Also, your head shouldn’t be bowed down, nor should it be held too high. Perfectly positioning your body and head will make air pass through better.
Normally, it is not in music stores that you will find Chinese flutes. Rather they can be found in the more exclusive flute stores or in the more peculiar Chinese stores. The same principle applies with learning the flute. If you want to study a rare flute, without any experience in similar things, then it can be hard finding a singapore flute tutor. What you can do is to master one type of flute, so you know it inside-out. Since you now have the skill, you can easily study a rarer flute by watching videos or reading instructions.
Learning any type of music requires one important trait: hardworking. In order to master the flute, regular beginner flute lessons would have to be done. Even with that, mastering the flute will take months. Without hard work, then the player would get discouraged early on and quit playing.
